Sacramento Shakespeare Festival presents
A 30 Hour Comedy Reading Marathon
(2009)
The Sacramento Shakespeare Festival 2009, produced by City Theatre at Sacramento City College, presents a 30 Hour Shakespeare Comedy Reading Marathon.
Twelve of Shakespeare’s comedies will be read, end to end, over a thirty hour period, from 3:00 pm Friday, June 12, through 9:00 pm, Saturday, June 13.
The project will culminate with a reading of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 6:30 pm on Saturday, June 13th, to coincide with Second Saturday.
The plays will be read on campus at Sacramento City College. Audience is welcome between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm Friday, and from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday. The full thirty hours of reading will be webcast and accessible through the Festival website, sacramentoshakespeare.net. The last play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, on Saturday, June 13, at 6:30 pm, will be webcast to laptop screens at the Union Hall Gallery at 2126 K Street, Short Center South at 1250 Sutterville Road, and projected on a large screen at Vox Sacramento at 1931 H Street.
The 30 Hour Shakespeare Comedy Reading Marathon is presented as a fundraiser for the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, and actors will be collecting pledges from the Sacramento community at 5 cents per line.
The Sacramento Shakespeare Festival is produced in partnership with the City of Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation, and Capital Public Radio, and with generous grants from the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, Councilman Rob Fong, and the Los Rios Foundation.
